The Detail

Three things made this project genuinely complex.

The first was data integrity. Fáilte had just migrated to Business Central when the project started, meaning a lot of configuration was still in progress. We worked through the detail carefully to ensure product syncing was accurate and that everything landing in Shopify was clean and reliable from day one.

The second was customisation depth. B2B wholesale has processes that standard themes aren't built for. Getting the ordering flow, pricing logic and account management to work intuitively for trade customers required significant theme development – but it was essential to making the platform actually usable.

The third was continuity. Despite Magento's shortcomings, a core group of customers used it regularly. Preserving their order history, account data and uninterrupted access during cutover wasn't optional – it was the baseline.

The Results

The reception from existing customers at launch was immediate and positive. Customer onboarding onto the new platform increased by over 500%, driven largely by how straightforward the process had become. Conversion rate sits above 30% – a strong number for any commerce operation, and particularly impressive in a wholesale context where repeat ordering behaviour is everything. Returning customer rates have exceeded expectations, and positive feedback from the existing customer base is actively driving new sign-ups.
