When we work with you on your Shopify or Shopify Plus store, we’ll often ask you to share a collaborator code. This allows us to securely request access to your store without you needing to add us manually and taking up users on your account.
This guide explains:
-
What a Shopify collaborator code is
-
Why Shopify recommends using it
-
Exactly where to find it in your Shopify admin
-
What access it gives (and what it doesn’t)
-
How you can remove access at any time
What is a Shopify collaborator code?
A collaborator code is a unique code generated inside your Shopify admin.
It allows Shopify Partners, such as Parallel Commerce, to request access to your store in a safe and controlled way.
This is the method Shopify and Shopify Plus recommend for working with agencies, developers, and technology partners.
Key points:
-
You stay in full control of your store
-
We cannot access your store without approval
-
You decide what permissions we receive
-
Access can be removed at any time
Why Parallel Commerce uses collaborator access
Collaborator access is the safest and cleanest way for us to work on your Shopify store.
It allows us to:
-
Configure settings correctly
-
Review theme and app setup
-
Implement changes without sharing login details
-
Work in line with Shopify’s best practices
Importantly:
-
We do not become store owners
-
We cannot change billing
-
We cannot transfer ownership
-
We only see what you approve
This protects both you and your store.
What access does a collaborator get?
When you approve a collaborator request, you’ll see a list of permissions.
You choose exactly what we can access, such as:
-
Themes
-
Products and collections
-
Apps
-
Settings
For Shopify Plus stores, this also supports advanced workflows while keeping ownership and billing fully under your control.

You only need to share:

Nothing else is required.

Approving our access
Once we submit our access request using your code:
